Swedish Grace

Designer:

Louise Adelborg

Having qualified as an art teacher at the Swedish College of Arts, Crafts and Design, Louise Adelborg began designing décor for Rörstrand. By the end of the 1920s, she was employed tackling the design of dinner services. The Swedish Grace pattern pressed in relief on the surface of the porcelain, was presented at the Stockholm Exhibition of 1930. She managed to convey the feeling of golden ears of wheat swaying in the wind and the smell of freshly baked bread. The grain of wheat pattern can be seen as a metaphor of sustenance, fertility and prosperity coming from the natural world. The elegant monogram has now become a classic symbol of Swedish Grace.

Louise Adelborg

A classic Swedish design, unveiled in 1930 and maintaining its style to this day. Coming in six colours, this tableware still evokes the same emotions as when it was unveiled, the sensation of ears of wheat swaying in the summer breeze.

The grain of wheat pattern can be seen as a metaphor of sustenance, fertility and prosperity coming from the natural world. The elegant monogram has now become a classic symbol of Swedish Grace.

Designed by Louise Adelborg, the woman who has been credited with creating a porcelain service for every Swedish home.
